Postdoc position in Approximation Algorithms

Postdoctoral Associate Positions in Approximation Algorithms

The Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering invites
applications for one postdoctoral positions in the field of Approximation Algorithms.
Duties include design and development of approximation
algorithms for problems in risk management and computer security. The particular
problems of interest involve variants of covering and packing.

Knowledge of inapproximability techniques and willingness to code are
pluses.There are no official teaching assignments, however depending upon interest
such opportunities may be made available.

Required qualifications include an earned Ph.D. in theoretical computer
science (with an emphasis on approximation algorithm design) or applied
mathematics or a closely related discipline.
Some experience in risk management and computer security is preferred but
not essential.

The position is for one year (August 15 2013 through August 14, 2014),
although it could be extended to an additional year depending upon
performance.
