[DMANET] Open Research Position in Braunschweig, Germany

OPEN RESEARCH POSITION

The "Institut für Mathematische Optimierung (IMO)" of the TU Braunschweig
has a vacant position for a

- Scientific Research Assistant (TV-L EG 13) -

starting as soon as possible. At the time being the position is limited to
27 months but in principle there are options for longer employment.

The position is associated with the BMBF funded project "Optimierung
energieeffizienter Güterfahrzuglagen bei Eisenbahnverkehrsunter-nehmen",
which is part of the BMBF joint research project "E-Motion:
Energie-effiziente Mobilität".

We are looking for a Ph.D. student with an above-average degree in
mathematics or a related area (master's degree or equivalent, e.g. the
German Diploma), who has a very good knowledge in Discrete Optimization, in
particular in integer programming and combinatorial optimization, and who
wants to specialise in this area. The successful candidate will develop and
implement mathematical models and algorithms in order to solve large-scale
optimization problems. Obligations within the project require maintaining
contacts and discussions in German and English. Therefore, profound
knowledge of both languages is a must.

Among applicants with equal qualifications, handicapped persons will be
given a preference. The TU Braunschweig is an equal-opportunity employer and
therefore explicitly encourages qualified women to apply.

Applicants should send their application via email containing:

- cover and motivation letter,
- curriculum vitae
- copies of diplomas
- summary of Diploma/master's thesis (max. 3 pages in English or German)
- names and contact details of two referees including thesis advisor)

in a single(!) appended pdf-file as email to the secretary of the IMO (Mrs.
Thiel) at
