[DMANET] Two postdoctoral Positions in Computing Science

Two postdoctoral Positions in Computing Science

As part of the ITESM new research strategy in enhancing the research in strategic research areas the Technológico de Monterrey is strengthening its research capacity in Computational Science with focus on Modelling and Simulation for Sustainability and IT. Therefore the Technological Institute of Monterrey (Tecnológico de Monterrey, ITESM, Campus Monterrey), opens two positions for a Full Time Postdoctoral Researchers in the field of

              Computing Science
(1)    The first position is in stochastic methods and stochastic modeling focusing on advanced Monte Carlo and hybrid methods and algorithms for Linear Algebra,
(2)    The second position is in advanced deterministic and hybrid Multi-objective Multi-constrained Optimization

The Postdoctoral Researchers will work mainly with Prof. Alexandrov and Prof. Kalashnikov and collaborate with a group of scientists in the strategic area of Modelling and Simulation for Sustainability and IT. It is expected that they will be involved in the full-time investigation, which principal emphasis will be the study and development of advanced mathematical methods and algorithms both stochastic and hybrid (stochastic/deterministic) ones for Linear Algebra (Matrix Inversion, Solving Large Systems of Linear Equations, etc.) and multi-objective multi-constrained optimization. They will be expected to be able to be able also to model complex systems using stochastic and hybrid approaches as well as Network Science techniques.
It is expected that candidates have experience in parallel algorithms and parallel computing. It is an advantage that candidates have excellent programming skills C, C++, MPI, and had some experience with MATLAB and CPLEX.
The postdocs will have an opportunity to be on research secondments at renowned EU centers depending on the requirement and the needs of the research.

These are 1 year positions with a starting date June 01, 2015 (negotiable), with possible extension for 2 years.

REQUIREMENTS

- A PhD degree (obtained not earlier than 3 years ago from a high-ranked university) in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics and Operations Research, or related areas.
- Research experience confirmed by publications in renowned international journals indexed in ISI (Web of Science) and/or Scopus including at least 2 JCR publications in the past year.
-A successful candidate will have experience in at least one programming language (e.g., C/C++, MPI, CPLEX, MATLAB).
- Education/Research interests focused on parallel algorithms combined with several or more of the following areas: Monte Carlo methods and algorithms, Linear Algebra Mathematical Programming, Integer Programming, Approximate Optimization Method, heuristic or meta-heuristic methods, Stochastic Optimization, Multi-Objective Optimization, modelling of complex systems.
- Fluency in English is required (both writing and communication skills).

REMUNERATION

The base salary is in the range of USD 26000 – 40000 per annum (depending upon the candidate's experience). Apart from that, a 1-month-salary bonus at the end of the year, vacations bonuses, a saving fund membership, discount allowances, and IMSS social security premiums are provided, which amounts an additional income of approximately 20% of the base salary. A one-year medical insurance policy (valid both in Mexico and abroad) is also paid.

Being a member of the ITESM community, the successful candidate has a free access to the Campus facilities: the library, Internet, sports activities, etc.

CONTACTS

Interested researchers should submit:
(a) Covering letter;
(b) Most recent CV;
(c) 2 letters of recommendation (in English), one of them preferably from the doctoral dissertation adviser directed to Prof. Alexandrov and Prof. Kalashnikov at the e-mail addresses below. Only electronic submission of the document will be accepted.

DEADLINE
