[DMANET] Postdoc Position in Discrete Geometry "Geometric Constraints for Polytopes"

===============================================================================
Postdoc Position in Discrete Geometry
"Geometric Constraints for Polytopes"

Postdoctoral position at the Discrete Geometry Group,
Institute of Mathematics, Freie Universität Berlin
Collaborative Research Center "Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics,"
Project A03 "Geometric Constraints for Polytopes"
Position available now, ends June 30, 2020
Salary group: 13 TV-L FU
Job listing code: SFB_TPA03_2016

Setting:
The Discrete Geometry Group is a large research group at the Institute of Mathematics at Freie Universität Berlin, led by Günter M. Ziegler. Our research is concerned with key problems of Discrete Geometry, in particular in the theory of polytopes, as well as with configuration spaces for geometric problems and their topology.
It is active in major Berlin Mathematics research and education projects, among them the Berlin-Munich DFG Collaborative Research Center TR109 "Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics", which has now received funding for its second four year working period, as well as the "Berlin Mathematical School", the joint graduate school of the three major Berlin universities with its English language PhD program, to which the Discrete Geometry group contributes actively. Members of the group have received numerous prizes, ranging from dissertation prizes to a DFG Leibniz Prize, a Communicator Award and an ERC Advanced Grant.

Position:
Postdoctoral research position within project A03 of the DFG Collaborative Research Center TR109 "Discretization in Geometry and Dynamics." Project A03 is led by Günter M. Ziegler and Raman Sanyal (FU Berlin) and Carsten Lange (TU München). The project concerns "Geometric Constraints on Polytopes": It concerns the interaction of major geometric properties of polytopes and their combinatorial data. This research connects polytope theory with ideas and methods from Discrete Differential Geometry.
